Beer gardens, picturesque villages, houses with painted facades - Upper Bavaria's towns and landscapes appear to come straight out of a fairy tale.
An hour’s walk along Lake Starnberg to Bernried will give you a breath of fresh air and beautiful views of the mountains and Lake Starnberg, which is well known as the favourite lake of King Ludwig II. In Bernried you have a chance to visit the Buchheim Museum which is unique both for its architecture and its art collection. For the collections of Lothar-Günther Buchheim (1918 – 2007) – painter, photographer, publisher and author – the architect Günter Behnisch has designed a structure that reflects the museum's diversity: masterpieces of Expressionism, graphic arts, a crafts collection and ethnological art.
After a coffee break at the Museum’s café which is located at the Hoehenried park, a 20-minute boat trip back to Tutzing will round off an unforgettable afternoon.
Meeting point: Evangelische Akademie, in front of the Lecture Hall, 1 p.m.
Cost per person: EUR 27 (incl. the guided walk to Bernried, admission and guided tour of the Buchheim Museum, coffee and cake, boat ticket, VAT)
Registration is necessary. Cancellations will be accepted free of charge until 9 May 2008 . After that date the full amount will be charged.
