Seeon (537 m ) - surrounded by 7 lakes !

Actually, there are even 14 lakes, which form the nature reserve called "Seeoner Seenplatte" - remnants of glacial waters in the north of the lake Chiemsee. Seeon was an ancient settlement of the Celts and Romans. It was documented for the first time 924 A.D. when the Benedictine monastery was founded.
Later on, even Mozart, the famous composer, stayed here to work. Seeon could celebrate its 1000 th anniversary in 1994 after a thorough renovation the year before. Today, the place beams with numerous cultural events like concerts, exhibitions and lectures. Seeon and its local parts are officially recognized resorts in the Chiemgau district with about 1750 inhabitants and more than 500 accommodation facilities.
