Therapeutic proteins have become of increasingly important during the last few years in the fight against different diseases. Most of these proteins, especially monoclonal antibodies, are produced by large-scale cultivation on animal cells. The growing demand for these drugs calls for economic production processes. The scope of the symposium is to discuss the profiling and the metabolic engineering of animal cells in order to boost the yield while maintaining reproducibility and quality of the production processes.
Discussion Topics:
· Profiling (genomic and proteomic analysis)
· Metabolic Engineering
· Modulation of Apoptosis and Cell Growth
· Modulation of Processing, Secretion and Protein Glycosylation
· Targeted Gene Insertion to enhance Protein Production
The symposium is being organised by the German Association of German Biotech Companies (VBU) of the DECHEMA e.V. (Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology ) and will be sponsored by Roche.
