10th International Symposium on Catalyst Deactivation

February 5 - 8, 2006 in Berlin/Germany
Catalyst Stability in Chemical and Bioprocesses

This is the 10th Edition of the Symposium on Catalyst Deactivation. It builds on a successful tradition focusing on deactivation in heterogeneous catalysis and the impact on the process behavior, but it is also shaped to account for the importance of the phenomenon in homogeneous catalysis and bio-catalysis. It is felt that in homogeneous catalysis the mechanisms are often qualitatively understood but that the quantitative modeling of the deactivation kinetics are lagging behind. In bio-catalytic processes deactivation has had its own development. Once familiar with the terminology, however, it becomes clear that there are a lot of similarities in the kinetic behavior. Catalyst Deactivation-10 offers a forum for confronting the different views and approaches and for stimulating discussions across the boundaries of the disciplines. Chemists and bio-chemists active in the elucidation of mechanisms as well as in the improvement and development of novel chemical and biochemical processes will contribute to a better understanding of the basics of (bio)catalyst deactivation. Chemical and bio-engineers will bridge the gap between basic studies and their practical applications.
