PSE’2006 / ESCAPE-16 will be the second joint event of the annual conference series ESCAPE (European Symposium on Computer Aided Process Engineering) and the triennial conference series PSE (Process Systems Engineering). It follows the first joint event PSE’97 / ESCAPE-7 in Trondheim, Norway (1997). The purpose of both series is to bring together the international community of researchers and practitioners who are interested in computing-based methods in process engineering. The last ESCAPE symposium has taken place in Barcelona, Spain (2005). The last two venues of the PSE symposia were Keystone, Colorado, USA (2000) and Kunming, China (2003).
