ISBP2010 Programme
186 abstracts (96 oral presentations and 90 poster abstracts) have been submitted to ISBP2010. It was our intention to enable young scientists or scientists, who only recently started to work on biopolymers, to play an active part at ISBP2010. We have therefore decided to increase the number of oral presentations on the expense of presentation length. Presentation time has been restricted to 15 or 20 min for most invited lectures to achieve this goal. Only survey lectures given by leading scientists of the field or lectures on subjects that need a more intense introduction than PHA (i.e. lectures on not-PHA biopolymers) will occupy a longer time frame up to 30 min. All other oral contributions are limited to 10 or 15 min, respectively. This procedure allowed us to accept a high number of abstracts for oral contributions and to have an exiting and multisided programme. Please note, that there is a 5 min interval between each talk. This interval is scheduled for discussion and introduction of the next speaker.
ISBP2010 has two major innovations:
1. Because of the strong increase of applied and commercial aspects of biopolymers we have tried to concentrate most of these contributions to one day, named "Industry day" (Tuesday, October 5. 2010). By this, we hope to encourage representatives of biotechnological companies or organisations to participate at the meeting. For those, who are only interested in this "Industry day" or who can not afford to stay on a conference for 4 days, it will be possible to participate at a reduced rate at the "Industry day".
2. Due to the high number of contributions it was necessary to split the programme on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning into parallel sessions. The same holds true for Thursday morning: because of the early departure time of several overseas connections we decided to move the Thursday afternoon session to a Thursday morning session run in parallel. Wherever appropriate, we separated the parallel sessions thematically. Due to the predominance of PHA-related talks this was, however, not always possible.
We hope you will enjoy the programme.
