Fascination World Cultural Heritage - a guided walk
An English speaking guide will introduce you to Bamberg’s beautiful
sights to give you an impression of the city’s extraordinary flair.
The
tour starts with a visit of the unique Emperor’s Hall in the New
Bamberg Residency. This palace of the Bamberg Prince-Bishops (built
from 1613) is
famous for its stuccowork ceilings, furniture and
tapestries from the 17th and 18th centuries. The Emperor’s Hall is of
particular interest concerning the paintings on the walls and
ceiling – you will see 16 larger than life-sized portraits of emperors,
the work of Melchior Steidl.
The tour will take you further through the city, you will see just how unique Bamberg is. In the historical ensemble embracing the Cathedral, churches and monasteries, with bridges, narrow lanes and squares, half-timbered buildings and baroque facades, the magic of centuries past is still within your grasp.
As an concluding highlight you are invited to enjoy an Organ Recital with Wiland Hofmann in one of Bamberg´s historic churches.
The excursion will end at around 18:00.

The conference dinner will take place at the AULA of the University of Bamberg which is an unique historical building in a Gothic architecture
style. It was built as a chapel in 1306 for the Dominican Abbey. In 1806 the churchly significance of the hall ended – it was used for economical and war purposes. Since 1947 this impressive hall was used for cultural purposes as a concert hall for the Bamberger Philharmoniker and finally since 2002 it is used as AULA of the University of Bamberg.
We invite you to join the conference dinner in this very special atmosphere. The dinner will start at 18:30. Local food and drinks will be served, musical entertainment will be given.
Please note:
the way to and from the conference dinner location is for your own responsibility. The AULA of the Bamberg University
is located in around 10 minutes walking distance from the conference hall.
