Genome research on prokaryotic organisms is currently performed in Germany within the framework of three competence networks, their centers are located in G?ttingen, Bielefeld and W?rzburg. The research in these networks is devoted to whole genome sequencing of prokaryotes and also to the development of cutting edge technologies to make use of the sequences for industrial production processes, agriculture and the control of infectious diseases.
The competence networks are now organizing the 2nd European Conference on Prokaryotic Genomes (PROKAGEN 2005), which will be an excellent occasion to review the current stage of prokaryotic genome research. You are cordially invited to attend the conference, to listen to prominent scientists in this exciting field and to present your work in short lectures or in poster sessions. The conference will be held in the central lecture hall building of the Georg-August-University of G?ttingen.
The conference precedes the joint annual meeting of the VAAM (Vereinigung f?r Allgemeine und Angewandte Mikrobiologie e.V.) and the DGHM (Deutsche Gesellschaft f?r Hygiene und Mikrobiologie e.V.), which will be held from September 23 - 26, 2005 in G?ttingen.
