Skin in Vitro 2010

June 08, 2010 - June 09, 2010, Frankfurt am Main

on June 08 - 09, 2010 in Frankfurt am Main

Human reconstructed skin models have become increasingly important during the last few years in different fields.

Reconstructed epidermis models already fully replace animal testing for skin corrosivity and skin irritation testing. They are used for substance testing in the regulatory context of the cosmetics directive and under the REACH legislation.

More complex skin models are established research tools for the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industry as well as for academia. Especially in this area, the diversity of skin models and applications is rapidly growing.

The scope of this symposium is to discuss in depth the progress in use of skin models in research, efficacy and toxicity testing.

Discussion Topics:

·          In vitro toxicology

Ø       Regulatory aspects

Ø       Corrosion / Irritation

Ø       Phototoxicity

Ø       Genotoxicity

Ø       Sensitisation

·          Disease skin models

      ·          Functional characteristics of skin models

      ·          Efficacy testing

      ·          Research use

·          Clinical application of reconstructed skin

The symposium will be organized by the Association of German Biotechnology Companies (VBU) of DECHEMA e.V. (Society for chemical engineering and biotechnology) in cooperation with  CellSystems ® Biotechnologie Vertrieb GmbH
