SPICA 2004 is the 10th event in a series of symposia on preparative chromatography which started 1986 in Paris and has continued since then every two years in different locations in Europe.
SPICA focuses on isolation, purification and fractionation of value-added products (e.g. fine chemicals, natural products, pharmaceuticals, biomolecules, agrochemicals, aroma and food additives) by applying chromatography in the broad sense and allied techniques (e.g. membranes, crystallisation and liquid-liquid separation).
Chemists and engineers involved in product discovery, process design and development, production and manufacturing will find a forum for discussing issues of common interest and networking.
The programme will include technical and scientific, oral as well as poster communications from both industry and academia. Three poster prizes will be awarded by an expert committee to the best poster contributions. Furthermore an exhibition will provide an up-to-date overview of current technologies in chromatographic separations. Prior to the conference several workshops will be offered introducing important topics of the meeting.
Selected papers will be published in the Journal of Chromatography A.
The organising committee has great pleasure in inviting you to Aachen in October 2004.

ISPPP is the highly renowned International Symposium on the Separation of Proteins, Peptides and Polynucleotides, which will take place on 19 - 22 October 2004 in the same location in Aachen.
Because ISPPP and SPICA share common areas of interest, both scientific committees decided to organise a joint day concerning stationary phases and column characteristics in chromatography on Wednesday, 20 October 2004.
